Antique Italian Silver Tea Strainer, 2-Piece Set
Elegant and unique antique silver tea strainer, c. early 1900s. Set features two pieces, strainer and stand. The hand strainer has an indented handle attached to a round drip pocket. The strainer is decorated in a chased and engraved floral. The stand is composed of a round lip, center tray (water drip catch), and raised upon three legs, each decorated with detailed animal head.
Markings: Strainer is marked '800' for silver and '5l TO' representing silversmiths number (51), the "fasces" (ancient Roman symbol, an axe bundled with birch sticks - used between 1933-1934), and two letter for the province where the silversmith was registered (TO).
Base is marked '800', '5l TO' and with an unidentified additional marking.
