CapoDiMonte porcelain figurine of an old man seated, holding a pipe and book - circa late 1800's. The figurine is highly detailed in a realistic portrayal. Piece is in excellent condition, no chips, cracks or breaks. Marking: Underside has the CapoDiMonte marking (crown and 'N') Dimensions: 4"x 2.75" x 7.25" History: Capodimonte tradition of making fine porcelains dates back to the 18th century when the Charles of Bourbon (VII of Napoli, V of Sicilia) built his factory in the Royal Woods of Capodimonte near Naples in 1743. Capodimonte is famous for its moulded figurines and decorative modeled flowers applied to cups and vases.
