Box features gilded silver frame and panels with beautiful guilloche design. Gilded interior. Overall excellent condition, no cracks, chips, or breaks in the enamel, normal minimal wear with age. This piece is a great example of the Georg Adam Scheild's masterful pieces of enamel and silver.

Markings:  Marked GAS for silversmith Georg Adam Scheid (Austria), 900 for silver, Diana's head, 11, and with unidentified marking.

Dimensions:  3/4 in. tall; 1-4/5 in. length; 1-4/5 in. width

History:  The Scheid Company was founded in 1862 in Vienna, Austria. The firm presented their artworks at the world exhibition in 1900 in Paris. Noteworthy were the gold medallions presented to Georg A. Scheid as commendation for his fine work and artistry. The company was most famous for their fine guilloche enamel on silver items.
