Importance of a Collection
Time is one of those fascinations that always gets me thinking. It is one life’s uncontrollable factors – an unstoppable force that always pushes us forward (even when we don't want to), capturing endless moments in countless lives. From before the day we are born and continuing far beyond our last…. time is marked and recorded by historical moments, milestones, and of course the materialistic objects that we leave behind. These objects are unintentional markers (or maybe some even intentional) for future beings to understand the past in which we live. They have the power to make us feel connected to a period of time in which we never lived.
This fascination with the way the world develops and changes is the basis for all things vintage, antique and the oldest of antiquities, leading us to appreciate and value the art of collecting and studying our past though what is left of it. Collections therefore tend to be highly personal, consisting of works of art that intrigue the senses. The discovery of a piece holds much excitement in itself, as many pieces are truly one of a kind and not easy to come by. The preservation and movement of these pieces through time contibutes as an essential connection of the link between the present and past.
All of this combined is the key to what lies behind our passion for antiques and why we love working in this business filled with so much history!
