Sevres hinged porcelain box with bronze ormolu mounts and decor along sides and lid. Features a rich blue glaze from the Paul Milet studio in Sevres.
Markings: Bottom is marked 'PM Sevres' for Paul Jean Milet.
History: Paul Jean Milet was a French ceramicist of the 20th century. He was the son of Felix Optatus Milet who began the ceramic business by opening a factory in 1866. Paul joined his fathers firm in 1894 and expanded the production, especially in the area of stoneware. Paul succeeded his father in 1899.
