History: The Vienna porcelain factory was founded in 1718 by Claudius du Paquier, the Austrian War Commissioner, assisted by the Meissen enameller and gilder Christoph Konrad Hunger. It was sold to the state in 1744. The mark is based on the state shield, a simple device with one, two or more cross-bars. Various forms appear and it remained in use until the firm closed in 1864.
